ROBERT COOLEY, M.D.

Dr. Cooley graduated from Hobart College Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude with a BS in Chemistry in 1969, and from University of Chicago Medical School in 1973. He completed his internship in General Surgery in 1974 and his Orthopedic Residency in 1977 from Albany Medical College. Dr. Cooley started practice in 1977 at Rosa Road Orthopedics, and was Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery in 1978. Dr. Cooley is an attending Orthopedic Surgeon at Ellis, St. Clare's and Sunnyview hospitals in Schenectady, NY. He is Chairman of Orthopedics at Ellis Hospital since 1995, and Medical Director of The Center For Sports Medicine in Schenectady, NY. He has been team physician for Union College since 1977 and also was team physician for United States Canoe and Kayak team for the 1979 World Championships in Jonquierre, Quebec. Dr. Cooley has won the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching, from Albany Medical College in 1996 and 1999. This award is in recognition of his teaching skills voted on by the Orthopedic Residents from Albany Medical College. He is also an accomplished outdoors men, participating in running, canoeing and hiking. Dr. Cooley is an ADK 46er, both summer and winter.
