Dr. DiCaprio is a Scotia native who graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1990. He graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Biology from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1994. He graduated Valedictorian of his medical school class at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1998, and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He pursued his career in medicine in the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at Yale University’s School of Medicine where he completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in July 2003. While at Yale, Dr. DiCaprio excelled in both clinical care and research and was awarded first place in his graduation disputation for best research among his graduating colleagues. In July 2004, Dr. DiCaprio completed a one-year fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the University of Florida School of Medicine. The fellowship training focused on acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary to manage patients with both benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors. He has presented and lectured at several national orthopaedic meetings and institutions throughout the country. His work in the fields of orthopaedic oncology, joint reconstructive surgery, and medical education have been published in numerous medical journals, including Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
